#23 Is this really the end? Or just the beginning ...

So now what? Here I am at the end. Yay!!! I've been obsessing about finishing. [I've been told spending so much time on a computer is grounds for divorce ... but that didn't deter me.]

By the time I got here, I decided I enjoyed the process overall. Would like to re-visit Audiobooks, Podcasts, YouTube, Web 2.0 tools, Zoho writer, Del.icio.us and fd's Flickr Toys. Obviously some for fun, some for research. Just like why people read, actually.

Discovery learning works well. Playing is fun. Directed play is excellent. I would have liked to be able to interact with other participants. Group play learning with discussion and feedback instantly. Unfortunately, in small libraries, there is not the time or staff to sit and talk to. Maybe on-line audio/visual conferencing? Or, indeed, group participation.

Computers are solitary making. I prefer people, but they are a great way of communicating.

Would I have chosen to blog without this? No way. I'm far too introverted and I don't want to share my life, photos, travel etc with zillions of strangers. But, being anonymous feels a little safer. So maybe one day a reserved blog.

I'd like to go back and make this one more creative, with added flair and added extras [the perfectionist in me, but I'm taking something for it. lol]. I probably won't unless I'm forced to spend a lot of my time indoors in front of a screen. Or develop a need to live my life vicariously.

Perhaps I'll leave the blogging to Generation Y, who seem to have few reservations about living life in the public eye.

When I get a computer at home [with broadband; dial-up would be mind numbingly slow for a lot of this] I'll see what happens. I'd like to find out more. I remember not being interested in the Internet, until I had in-service training on using it. That was like opening Pandora's box. Now I've got a taste of new Internet stuff. Perhaps I need to do more training? A computer for Christmas? Yes please.

#22 Audiobooks (or "the end is in sight")

Are we there yet? Nearly!

Interesting. Useful. Great idea for libraries. Take away, listen, no need to return it. It will delete after the loan period. No fines. Good thinking.

May even try a few myself. All I need is a computer. [I've been good, Santa. That's my story anyway. And an MP3 player and ....]

Tried this one. http://wwww.librivox.com/ A friend downloaded "Moby Dick" . Took a long time, but not difficult. I'm not over keen on audio books, but they are useful on long trips.

#21 Podcasts Smodcasts

Tried audio and visual. Searched [successfully] for Tom Lehrer, Phil Ochs, Peggy Lee, Big Bands. Could prove very useful when I'm looking for obscure tracks or [now] obscure artists.

Added "Mornings with Maragret Throsby", "First Tuesday Book Club"and "At the Movies" to my Bloglines account. Enjoy Margaret Throsby, but can't always listen to her. Perfect solution.

Got a few strange/suss links looking for images, but otherwise o.k.

Found Yahoo Podcasts easiest to use. Searched Arts, Sports, Music, Comedy, Movies .... Think I may have to look more fully into this ..... eventually, one day.

Great facility for answering vague queries from patrons "It's a new book/film/product. I heard/saw it on the ABC ... I think."

Don't think it will help with " I saw a book on the shelves last week. Can you find it for me? It had a red cover." No title/author information ... just red cover. Still, sometime in the future?

#20 You too can YouTube

Checked out the site. Looked at the examples. Loved the Medieval IT Help Desk, Conan and Johnny Depp. Spent some time searching [an understatement]. I'll enjoy this in the future as well, I hope.

Hope you enjoy these three ... I did!!
